Welcome Letter 2022-2023
Welcome to Nicole’s Voice Studio! I love guiding students of all ages and developmental levels to find their unique voices in a functional and holistic way. Students will explore and build their voices through play, technical exercises, and appropriate repertoire in addition to cultivating their own artistry and expression.
My Music Staff
Students and parents receive login information upon studio enrollment and then have access to the student/parent portal in which they can see their individual schedules, payments and balance, repertoire, lesson notes, and studio news. Resources (sheet music, tracks) are uploaded regularly for practice at home! Please check the site, https://app.mymusicstaff.com/ to login often.
Tuition
Lessons are billed monthly and paid tuition secures reserved, regular voice study each week.
The number of lessons per month are apportioned by the teacher but will usually follow the school schedule.
Rates: $40/half hour, $60/45 min, $80/hour
Tuition is due the first week of the month. Cash, check, Venmo (@Nicole-Sliwa-1), and PayPal.

Cancellations/Make-ups
At least 48 hours advance notice are required to obtain a makeup for non-illness/non-emergency reasons. Notice can be given in person, by email/text/phone or by canceling via the online portal at app.mymusicstaff.com. A cancellation made less than 48 hours before a regularly scheduled lesson cannot be credited towards a makeup, and the lesson is forfeited. Non-emergency/non-illness makeups will be limited to TWO per semester. If non emergency/non-illness absences (at least 48 hours advance notice given) exceed two per semester, the allotted student time will be spent by the teacher preparing that individual’s future lesson plans, designing asynchronous materials for practice, and researching strategies to reach that specific student’s vocal goals.
In the case of emergency or sudden illness, any exceptions to the 48 hour policy will be made at the discretion of the studio. Online lessons or non-singing lessons (music theory, active listening, repertoire discovery, acting technique) are wonderful options!
Makeups can be scheduled during the week if any spots become available. It is the client’s responsibility to check the schedule online or reach out to the studio (that’s me!) to ascertain openings. Makeup days will also be scheduled during prolonged school holidays.
Makeups will expire 3 months after the missed lesson (for continuing students).
Makeups are forfeit upon terminating contract/lessons with the studio.
Individual lessons are posted on the calendar. If you’re unsure of whether you have a lesson (due to school holiday or studio lag haha) please check in to confirm.
The goal is to ensure regular, consistent lessons for maximum student growth and to streamline business function to prioritize studio development and not studio scheduling!
Termination of Lessons
If a student and/or parent should decide to terminate lessons at any given time during the year, the studio requires a two-week written notice (email is acceptable) and student/parent shall be financially responsible for the following two weeks/lessons, whether the student/parent chooses to attend or not.
Practice and Lessons
Students are encouraged to bring a recording device to each lesson, so they may practice with the recordings between lessons. Tailored exercises are provided to each student weekly. Several short periods of practice (15-30 minutes a day) are recommended each day of the week. This insures enough time for the muscles and the mind to connect, solidify technical memory, and create vocal habits and technique.
Parents are welcome to observe a lesson anytime they wish with the student’s permission. Feel free to call or email me anytime to discuss vocal progress.
*Please bring a 3-ring binder in which to organize sheet music, class notes, and handouts.
Studio Recital
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the annual end-of-year recital in June! The recital is totally free and fun for all. An accompanist is provided.
Music Purchases
Sheet music is expensive! However, students may use the materials in the studio reference library as well as the ones uploaded in the student portal. If desired repertoire is not already in the studio library, the extra charge will be included in the following month’s invoice at a discount due to the studio’s paid teacher membership at musicnotes.com. Most individual songs are ~$5.
